New option to hide the availability calendar

April 30th, 2009

We’ve gotten requests from some of our vacation rental owners for the option to hide the availability calendar on their listing pages. They either don’t want a calendar or already have one with another site and don’t want to be bothered with having to keep multiple calendars up to date.

Well, now we’ve set it up so that the calendar will only be displayed on the property page when dates have been marked in the calendar.  If you don’t have any reservations or blackout dates market in the calendar for the next 12 months, your calendar will automatically be hidden.

Thanks to those of you who have given us feedback on this issue. And as usual, we always love hearing your feedback.

Receive rental inquiries directly from your website

March 17th, 2009

contact-form-promoAs an owner of a vacation rental website, your goal is to keep visitors on your site for as long as possible before completing the task set out for them (i.e. making an inquiry or booking a reservation).

When it comes to rental inquiries, you ideally don’t want to just give them your email address as a method of contact, since you risk loosing their attention between the point of leaving your site and sending their email. They may end up not sending you email inquiry in the end.

Contact form widget
With our new ‘Contact form’ widget, however, visitors to your website will be able to submit inquiries directly from your webpage without having to leave your site.  You will receive all website inquiries by email through your Ravant account.

Styling the Contact form
When setting up this widget we give you the option to choose the background and text colors in order to match your sites theme.

Free to use
Like our other widgets for vacation rental websites, this one is free to use.

Embed an area map in your VR website

March 3rd, 2009

Maps widgetWe have now added the ability for owners to place an embedded map directly in their vacation rentals websites (See demo below).

All you need to do is simply copy the code we provide into your website and the map will be created for you automatically.

By placing the map directly in your webpage, you will benefit by keep visitors on your website for a longer period of time, rather than sending them away to a 3rd party mapping website (such as GoogleMaps).

Customize map dimensions
What’s great about embedding these maps is that you could easily adjust its dimensions. You may choose from some default dimensions, in addition to setting you own custom width and height.

For example, you may want to choose a narrower width when placing your map on the sidebar.

Get started
Setting up your map is easy, simply click on the ‘Area map’ link in the ‘Marketing’ section on your ‘My account’ page.

Here is how a map (with dimensions of 500 x 300) will look on your site.

The exported Craigslist ad is professional looking, and will certainly help your rental stand out from among the other Craigslist ads.

Exporting your listing to Craigslist is easy,  simply click on the ‘Craigslist’ link in the ‘Marketing’ section on your ‘My account’ page.
